Apr 2, 2009 8,854 782 Do u know how to figure out the polarity of the activity led ? Sep 26, 2009 2,675 234 Most HDD activity LEDs are usually switched by the ground lead, the +5 is always on.... I cut my teeth on a DEC PBP-8I. Also, you may need to consider those users who set their AAM for minimum seek noise. Homepage
The remaining six performed as planned and are currently in trials here and at area computer shops. What remains is proof of the concept that Y-Sig is indeed the true current signal Thanks in advance. First, modify your System Tray so the indicator stays visible at all times. (Specifically, set it to "Show icon and notifications.") Let's refer to this signal as the "yellow signal" or Y-Sig for future reference. Some interesting aside observations:In the test bed PC, the best (read lowest noise) digital ground was the power I think I am pretty good, not great but if it's hard it's just a new challenge. I expect to run either a 750 MA 3.6 Vf 3 watt led or a couple of smaller 5mm leds.
- If not, would this be an acceptable limitation?BTW, I can download your schematic, but neither Opera nor Firefox give me access to your gallery.

- I can do that - I have some extras I can photo.
Even at 2 amps the voltage drop would be negligible. There's a lot of mechanical (and therefore current) activity inside a hard drive when its doing seeks, reads, and writes - mostly from the head positioning motor. In fact, you can review that log right inside the program's settings window, saving it to a file only as needed. Hard Drive Indicator Light Flashing Thanks in advance for any 411 anyone may provide.

storage then, real core, and a hard drive (if you could call it that) cost $25k. Traystatus I would love to have a setup like that & if anyone ever asks me to build them a PC i could probably add a nice setup. An oscilloscope current transformer probe was constructed from a miniature, 10 mH, ferrite core, inductor from my junk box. I also see the abovementioned Mediafire URLs.
