I met the same problem ago. alan said: rename setup.exe to .old in this folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller and try again. After doing this, it still didn't work and I'm still continuously seeing the "please wait while windows is configuring..." message when starting up Microsoft Word. Not sure what other system info you may need to help me figure this out.
I am running office 2007 on windows vista. Load Office 2007. Mike Williams, Please would you let me know if this fix suggested by Lauren worked to you ? you could check here Lin.
Happens with EACH email downloaded in Outlook, etc. Select the Voice recognition and click remove. Not sure what other system info you may need to help me figure this out. Any idea's?

- I am now very frustrated with 2007 so i installed 2003 without uninstalling 2007.
- I just saw your fix, tested it out on one of the 'frozen' hard drives (replacing Office 11.0 with 10.0, since we're using 2002 instead of 2003) and it worked like

Sometimes when i actually get into outlook i get the message, MAPI32.dll is missing or corrupt. Like many others here with MS Office 2003 we've been upgrading every time the newer version has arrived. When I installed this AM, I checked the "Run from Computer" options.
Over and over it appears and I am unable to cancel out unless I turn off the computer I tried to uninstall Office 2003 but it will not let me.
Also, could you share with me which country you are in (it is much easier for me to help if you are in the UK) thanks David David Overton wrote re: The plot sickens actually. I have attempted to fix it myself, with the very limited computer knowledge/understanding that I have, with no success. Still Word and Excel had the problem - so I renamed them both to oldexcel and oldwinword.
