yea yea go figure :) it wasent the card though i sell network cards on ebay amongst other things and tried 5 other cards. As i said, i think its more a hardware issue than a driver issue, since it happens even before windows loads. I'm using it now to access Tek-Tips and type this.So seeing as I haven't found any solutions to the cardbus issue, I will use this USB wifi adapter. Login _ Social Sharing Find TechSpot on... it has scanned the firmware of the card and KNOWS that this is the right one, or 2. This behaviour is a little irritating, but hasn't prevented it from working in the past. Compaq says it's not their problem. Sometimes I can get it to install the driver, but then I get a "Device cannot start (Code 10)" error. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Now as for the Wireless Card, a tried in more laptops. It still a good possibilty i'll look into. If so, did analysis of it reveal any solutions? I have installed wireless cards before in other computers and never ran into any problems but with this one it is another story.
I tested the card on severla laptops at work and it worked fine. The Laptop now boots a little faster, and appears to have better power managment. TerryNet - the card is unbranded, only a sticker describing what it is, no brand name. If I pull it back out, it unfreezes.

You may also have to do a text search for the AR5211.sys in the \Windows\inf folder and remove the INF file that is causing Windows to search for the driver. P.S.I believe a read somewhere about an incompatibilty issue between Netgear and AMD chipsets.
