- No response from either, but I won't ever use anything from either company, ever again.

I was very worried from the functionality of this hijacker. I downloaded the program you told me about and scanned the computer. It offers to replace newer preferences in the place of what you have already selected (Mail, Photo Viewer, etc). If that doesn't do the trick, download one of these Free Anti-Virus Programs or another free anti-malware utility such as MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.

It was a hidden install included with an update of a proprietary software (FixCleaner). Each found a few things, cleaned them up and nothing changed.) I have now just finished a System Restore and it is still the same.
