Increase voltage to the CPU, and memory in the BIOS. cooling is not an issue... Even if you push the front side bus up to 400 MHz-- what I consider an extreme overclock-- that's still only (400 x 2) or DDR2-800 officially. https://forums.techguy.org/threads/my-computer-thinks-im-trying-to-overclock.1117828/ Try the forums search function, or just PM me and I'll help or find who can :D.

Yep, that comment still has negative karma, lol. Yesterday, I overclocked my processor from 3.2(default) to 3.4 by changing my multiplier from x16(default) to x17. Course if you say it's that hard of a test, might help to run Prime95 for a bit (if you got time) and then once u ready to move on, run read this article Don't immediately go for the highest possible overclock.

I still don't really understand RAM timings anyway.
I've managed to get back into windows. Thanks for the help bro. It sounds as though when you had it overclocked you stressed and weakened some of the circuits in the chips so that it will 'overheat' sooner. Get some really good motherboard and processor - even if it means sacrificing on RAM and Hard Disk Drives. click here now Even if it says something is stable, test in games, too.
Just google something like voltage overclcok 955, and you should be able to find out how people overclocked theirs. See next step. Burn your new settings in with Prime95. Explained here. Is there any way to disable sensor based shutdown/reset in the bios?
I will admit that it's given me a greater 3DMark Vantage score and some extra frames in certain game benchmarks, but it hasn't resulted in anything noticeable. I understand this is a very basic and short guide but if there is any questions, I will be happy to answer them. It's just like that guy saying that AMD drivers didn't suck anymore, what a noob. Guess my C0/C1 920 couldn't handle it.
I'm a big believer in cache, so I'm not willing to drop down to the E6300 or E6400 which only have 2 megabytes of L2. Then tonight it crashed again. If the Asus Probe program reads temps and voltages fine that is about all you need along with a stress testing program such as P95. Multi at 43 and raise vcore until stable?
I see that in safe mode it will always show the O.C. I'm hoping this overclock will decrease it a bit. Let's now select the Advanced CPU Core Features in this screen, which will take us to this. Or, you can pop out the CMOS battery (looks like a big watch battery) and keep it out for a couple of minutes.
Dont buy a motherboard/processor if there is a potential to upgrade - buy it if it fits your requirement for at least the near foreseeable future. where did you check the speed? I believe my computer was unstable because when I overclocked higher I don't think I gave enough voltage, could this result in power cycling? I think you are mistaken!! The crashing issue has gone and come. Decided to put a stop to this, hopefully.
